Namaste from Kathmandu!

we have spent a very interesting time here in Kathmandu. Yesterday jason allen and i went to the monkey palace, a large monastery, which, surprisingly, monkeys all over! so we did that and then wandered for lunch, had momo, which is basically nepalese potstickers and are frickin' awesome. we came back and met our tour group, there are 7 of us going to base camp, then 4 of us up to island peak to climb. seems like a laid back and good group, plus our guides name is karma, so how can it be bad, right?? Today we had a guided tour around the largest stuppa (buddhist temple) in asia, and another hindi temple. nepal is the place where the mongols, chinese, and indians all meshed, so there are lots of both hindi and buddhists here. the locals are great and everyone is very positive, i love it!

Tomorrow the trek starts. I bought some trekking pants today that would have been $125 in the states, and they were about $10 here...ridiculous. They may be knockoffs, but for $10, who cares? Our flight to lukla leaves at 7 am tomorrow, so tonight will be an early night. We'll see everyone in 3 weeks after we climb a mountain!
